Article highlights auto cyber vulnerability to theft

A Wall Street Journal article points to the vulnerability of connected cars to cyber theft and explores steps the automotive industry is taking to reduce cyber risks and develop best practices.  The article also points to the July 22 Billington Global Automotive Summit and the high-level speakers at the summit.

The Auto-ISAC, which will have a strong presence at the Billington Global Automotive Cybersecurity Summit, is developing best practices for the automotive industry.

The summit speakers include GM’s CEO Mary Barra, U.S. Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx and a host of federal and industry insiders who will address the next steps needed to insure the new generation of connected and autonomous vehicles are safe from cyber threats.

The summit will also examine the needed steps to insure consumers’ privacy. The automotive industry has already set privacy and data security principles that will regulate how automakers collect, use, and share information.
